What this test measures

NIPT analyses cell-free fetal DNA fragments circulating in the mother’s bloodstream to screen for the most common chromosomal abnormalities. Can be performed from the 10th week of pregnancy onwards. The Basic panel screens for Trisomy 21 (Down syndrome), Trisomy 18 (Edwards syndrome) and Trisomy 13 (Patau syndrome), with optional sex chromosome aneuploidies and fetal sex determination.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does the Non Invasive prenatal test (NIPT) Basic test cost in Dubai?

AED 1299, inclusive of 5% VAT and home collection within Dubai. No hidden fees.

How long do results take?

Results are typically available 7-8 days, delivered by email or WhatsApp.

Can I do this test at home?

Yes. Our trained phlebotomists can come to your home or office anywhere in Dubai. You can also visit our Al Karama clinic.

When in pregnancy can I take the test?

From the 10th completed week of pregnancy onwards. Earlier than this and there may not be enough fetal DNA in the maternal bloodstream for an accurate result.

Is NIPT safe for my baby?

Yes — NIPT only requires a blood sample from the mother. There is no contact with the fetus and no risk of miscarriage, unlike amniocentesis or chorionic villus sampling.

How accurate is NIPT?

For Down syndrome (trisomy 21), NIPT has >99% sensitivity and specificity. Accuracy for trisomies 18 and 13 is also very high. However, NIPT is a screening test — positive results should always be confirmed with diagnostic testing before any irreversible decisions.

Can NIPT tell me the baby’s sex?

Yes, NIPT can determine fetal sex with very high accuracy from week 10. This is an optional add-on you can request at booking.

Do I need to fast?

No fasting required. Test from week 10 of pregnancy onwards.
